What I want to share from my experiences is that love conquers everything. It is my hope that it will inspire the readers to open their hearts to the Divine. If we can try to understand that we all are equally part of the Divine and are here to achieve this greater Truth and to realise our Self - if we make this our goal and do everything with Love…then everything will be lovely and you will always be happy.

Love

" God is ever-present "

We have to reach the point again where all started in the beginning. This is where the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita teaches the same. They teach the truth that man can reach that state again. If that was not so, the holy books would not say it. There was a time when everybody – even you all here – were completely realised.

But then you came back to this world and you chose to reincarnate from time to time. Shiva is helping each one by destroying and giving the opportunity to create again – from the old to the new – until we reach the stage where we stop the cycle of birth and death; until we realise that God is everywhere, God is ever-present, any moment, any time wherever we are, whenever we need Him, He is here. He’s just here! We are looking for Him everywhere, but look inside of you, look in your heart, feel it, feel yourself. By knowing yourself you will know God – because He is no different from you!

Sri Swami Vishwananda tells us today.....

Sri Swami Vishwananda is talking about the importance of a calm mind:
Very often, men have an arrogant attitude. They think, they know better. They will always talk loud and know little. It’s said that the one, who talks less, knows…? Much. And the one that talks a lot knows less. And it’s true: When somebody doesn’t know much, they want to be heard. So, they raise their voice very loudly. But when you look at the master, you look at the spiritual guide, they talk when they have to talk. But they keep quiet most of the time. Like I explained in the morning: They analyze everything. They have a solution for everything. Because, only in quietness you will get solution. Solutions are here, but the mind is to busy to see it. When you have a problem, you look for a solution; you keep looking, looking, looking and get crazy about it. But at the end, when you say: “I am tired of it!” you see: “The solution was just here, but I didn’t see it" and you ask yourself why you didn’t see it. It's because the mind was busy. The mind was too much in action. So, when the mind is in deep action like that, one will always think that one knows better. Even when they don’t know much. Then, were is the quality of humbleness? Where is the quality of obedience? Where is the quality of surrender? Where is the quality of love? There is no! That’s why even some time you will hear that there is certain master which is really, really stict to the disciple.
Like i said: God will send you a Master and if you desire God, but have grater work to do, of course you need a Master who is sharp like an arrow to put you in your place.

Sri Swami Vishwananda talks about........

Once there was a teacher. He said to his disciple: “My dear disciple, now it’s time for you to find God fully. To fully realize yourself. Actually that's what we are here for. In the Hindu tradition we have four questions in life that we ask ourselves: Where do we come from? Who are we? Where are we going? And why are we here? These four questions only. If you can answer these four questions you are fully realized. So the Guru said to the disciple: “Now it’s time for you to fully realize yourself. Come.” The disciple said “My dear teacher, I love you so much. But you know: My wife loves me so much and she will be really unhappy”. So the teacher thought for a while and said “Okay my dear. If you really think that she loves you that much... you are perfect in yoga. Take this pill." He gave him some pills and he said to him “Next Monday, before you go to bed, take this pill. When you take this pill, you will appear dead to the outside, but you will hear everything.” He said “Okay, let’s try it”. Monday arrived, he took the pill at night and he slept. The next morning, normally it was decided that he will wake up early. When the wife saw that he is not getting up, she was asking herself 'what’s wrong?' The wife started to push him "Hey, get up”- Nothing, no reaction. Then she started screaming so strong, that the neighbours and everybody came. So everybody was crying “Oh, why have you left us?” The wife threw herself on the body and said “Oh, why have you left me alone here? We are here for each other.” Big crying. The son came and said “Father, why have you left us?” The mother came and said “Oh my son, I should have died before you. You are so young. You still have your full life in front of you." At that moment the teacher, the Guru came and said “Why are you calling everybody?" And they said “Oh he has left us. Our father, husband and son left us.” Then the Guru said “Well, I have a solution. I see that all of you love him so much. The wife just said “Oh my dear husband, I should have died at your place.” The mother said the same thing. Then the Guru said “Well, I have a pill here. Whoever will drink this pill will die in the place of that person. And the person will be revived. So the Guru turned to the wife and said her “Mataji, respectful mother, you were just crying that you should have died in your husband’s place, no? This is what a good wife will do. You love him so much. Here take this pill.” That moment the wife stopped crying and said “Why are you saying that? I have little grand-children. It is his bad luck that he died. I can’t do that.” He turned to the Mother “Mother you were just saying you are old, you can take the pill.” The Mother said “Well, it’s his Karma. I can’t do that. I still have my grand-children to look after.” So everybody said the same thing. That moment the Guru took some water and threw it at the man’s face. The man woke up, looking at everybody, how great they were expressing the love, but in the time of sacrifice no one is there.
That’s what Christ said, no? A true friend is ready to sacrifice everything. And love is that sacrifice actually. If you truly love, you will sacrifice everything. So come to the point of really feel this love inside of you, because all the other kinds of love have expectations. And very often what we call love, is just passion or desire. Today we love that person, tomorrow we love that person and in one year you don’t even remember who is that person. Real love is just deep inside of you. It’s not in someone else, it’s inside of you. That’s your true nature. That’s who you are in reality. The Divine is not far away. It’s not in somebody else, it’s inside of you. It’s consuming you everyday little by little. You just need to calm your mind and introvert yourself. See how much you are attracted towards yourself and how much you really, sincerely want the Divine.

Sri Swami Vishwananda talks about Chaitanya

There was a saint called Chaitanya Das Maharaj who lived in the 17th century. He was always singing Gauranga, Gauranga - all the time. Even while he was sleeping, people would just hear 'Gauranga, Gauranga, Gauranga, Gauranga' vibrating from him. Each breath of him changed to Gauranga and he rised in such a divine, spiritual advancement, that even when he died, when he took Samadhi, his whole body was vibrating Gauranga, Gauranga. Gauranga is another aspect of Krishna, who appeared 1500. So just by chanting you are making proper use of your tongue, by reciting the name of God and also you are utilizing the hearing, which will become more fine till you realize the vibration within yourself. So this will lead you to self-realization or God-realization and to attain the love of God completely.

Words of Sri Swami Vishwananda

So, how to yearn for God?
How to become restless for God?
It’s by continuously begging to Him.
To continuously harass Him, by calling His name continuously.
It’s like... you see, human have been born in this world, as if God has given a game, a toy to a child.
The child plays with the toy, but after some time, the child will long for...? The mother!
And when a child yearns for the mother- try as best as you want, give another toy to the child to calm the child- the child will scream! The child will cry!
The more you try to divert the mind of the child, the more the child will scream and call to the mother.
Until the child has not found the mother, the child will not be attracted.
But such crying, if you develop such a restlessness for God, you will have Him.
You will realize Him.

Trust in the will of God and do it!

Devotee : When we use the word ‘surrender’, is it like when we do something and say “I tried this and I tried that, I have no other choice. Therefore I am surrendering to you. Can we say that? Can we call that surrender?

Sri Swami Vishwananda: No.

Devotee :
That means, I am saying on the other side I don’t want to do anything, I just surrender...?

Sri Swami Vishwananda: No, it’s not also that. What I mean is that what you are doing, you trust in the will of God, and do it. (smiling)

Sri Swami Vishwananda tells us a beautiful story .....

There was once a boy who went to see God and on the way he met a great Sadhu standing on one leg with the hand up. So when he went to meet God, the Sadhu said to him “As you are going to meet God, I have one question: Ask God when will I attain liberation?” So the boy met God and asked all the questions. On the way back he met the Sadhu, who asked “So…have you met God?”. He said “Yes, I met him.” And he said “What did God say?” The boy answered “Well, the Sadhu still has some karmic things to do. He still has to take birth three timesbefore attaining me.” Well, that moment he was very enraged and said “All my tapasya, all my sadhana that I have been doing and still I have to take birth three times!” But the boy was very calm and joyful. So the Sadhu said “Oh, I am sure you are your last time here.” The boy said “Oh, my dear Sadhuji, it’s not like that. Do you see this tamarind tree?” [ A leaf of the tamarind is very, very, very smalll, so there are billions of it] "I have to take as much births and then only I will attain Him." Then the Sadhu looked at him “ Are you stupid? Why are you so happy?” Then he said “Well, it doesn’t matter. I know that at the end I will attain Him.” At that moment he heard a Divine voice saying “Throughout all these tapasya the Sadhu had been doing, all the lives of this boy with the pure heart are erased and he attains ‘mukthi’. This shows that it’s not about how much one has done, but how one is doing it. Love has to be there. If you do things out of love, the Divine will run to you. You just need to do one step. This one step is to do it with love. Then He will do everything. She will do everything. But as long as there is not this one step from your side, it will be difficult. The Divine Mother will help you to become like that, so that this one step can be done with a pure heart.

Words of Sri Swami Vishwananda.......

Maya Devi is very powerful, because She traps everything, everybody gets trapped in it. Even saints get trapped in it, but the saints know their goal. The yogis, the sadhus, the persons who are enlightened, they know their goal, they know what they want. They know what is real, what they desire inside of themselves. This is what is real: to show what you really want, what your heart wants; to listen deep inside of you, to
be free from the misery of this world. I don’t mean that you have to die.
You can become a jivan mukti. You can live in this world but, at the same time, not be a part of this world. Then you can have happiness.
You will discover it, you will enjoy it, you will know about it. For that, there are many ways. There’s prayer, which helps to calm the mind.
There’s bhajan singing, which will give you bliss; you can lose yourself in it, you develop bhakti inside you. But still, this is not fulfilment. It’s through meditation that you can really come to the power of complete fulfilment.

During a Satsang Sri Swami Vishwananda was once asked.......

Swami, would you speak please about the balance of Bhakti and discipline? The aspect of discipline in exercises and Sadhana?
Here is his answer:
You see in Bhakti and discipline, devotion and discipline go together. Together with Bhakti you practice discipline. It is that discipline that you put towards yourself, so that you know how you have to do certain things, certain exercises that you do regularly.
This discipline is because you want something…
You know that there is something greater that you want to achieve and you do anything for that. Whether you have to run or whether you have to speed up- you will do anything. That’s where the discipline comes from, that’s where the Sadhana comes from.
And this is also a part of Bhakti. This is actually the beginning of Bhakti.
That devotion comes to a point, where you practice all this, but real devotion crosses over all this. There is a big different between- we start with discipline, we start with with certain Sadhana, where we throw ourselves into and which will lead us to surrender.
Until we don’t throw ourselves into something, it’s very difficult to surrender. To what to surrender? We don’t know, because the mind still plays a big role in everything, our mind still is in action with everything, but to calm this mind we need to do certain Sadhana.
This is where you take the step to throw yourself, saying “Yes”. You have the determination and you know you have the goal. You know where it is leading you. You know the goal that you want to achieve and you throw yourself into it. So how do you want to achieve it? Do you you want to put breaks and go slowly or do you want to go directly? There are different ways.

Words of Sri Swami Vishwananda

This human body- even the Devas envy us, even the angels, the Gods and
Goddesses, they all envy human beings.
One will say, but why?
Why, tell me.
Why do the demigods and Goddesses envy human beings?
(Someone :“We are mortal”)
We are mortal, well… (Swami laughs)
Tell me. Nobody? Yes?
(Someone: “The whole universe is inside of us.”)
The whole universe is in them also.
Actually, human being, in the ladder of creation, is the top.
It’s true, because only by attaining a human body, a human life, can you really attain the Creator, actually become one with the Creator.

Today Sri Swami Vishwananda is talking about Sri Ramakrishna and the general longing for seeing the Divine

Sri Ramakrishna- Probably you have heard about him. He was a great Devotee of Ma Kali, the Divine Mother. He would long for the Divine Mother, he would cry for the Divine Mother, he would sit everyday in front of the statue of the Divine Mother. He said “It’s just that .Mother, are you just a statue? I call for You, why do You not come to me? Why You can’t see the longing, the paining of my heart?” So everyday He would go mad. He would roll on the ground, crying for the Divine Mother, just to have a glimpse of the Divine Mother. Such was the intensitivity of this Bhakta, this Devotee. After longing for so much, the Divine Mother came to Him. And that’s how all the great souls really long. Then when He was doing prayer to the Divine Mother, it was not just for the Divine Mother. He would throw everything around. He would throw everything on the utensils and He would throw the flowers on Himself. He said: “Mother, you are everywhere. You are this utensil. You are this flower. You are everything that I see around.”

The same thing: St. Francis could perceive everywhere the Divine. That’s why He said 'Brother' and 'Sister' to everybody.
With such an intensitivity of longing to the Divine, you will have Him. If you just say “Well, I long for the Divine, but it has to be my way” (laughing)....
Of course the Divine will come in your way, but you will encounter certain limitations that He can understand only.

Words of Sri Swami Vishwananda

2012

There is one thing, which I find very interesting. For all the Satsangs that I have done lately, people always asked one question: What will happen 2012? What do you think will happen 2012? I’m sure all of you have heard lots of predictions about 2012, isn't it? For example that everybody will be enlightened, which is very good. Some people have heard that maybe the world will end 2012, which is very bad. And the sportive have heard, that there is the Olympic in 2012. So among all this I have seen happy people, who have heard that they will be enlightened. I have seen people happy, when they have heard, that the world will end 2012. I have seen people happy to know that there is the Olympic 2012. In gross it is very good to be happy. And there are a few people, who got very scared that the world will end 2012. They became very depressive. When I say, that it’s true that there will be the Olympic, they say "Very good."
It is true that people will become enlightened 2012, because there are everyday people who become enlightened. It is true, that the world is ending 2012, because it is ending everyday little by little. So, when I say to people the world will not end the way people think, you will see that they are so depressed. When I say nothing will happen, they say “Why will nothing happen?” Don’t think that enlightenment will just happen like that (snapping his fingers). You have to really work for it.
I am happy to know that lot of people have the determination to reach God-realisation by 2012, which is very good. This determination will make it happen, but don’t think that just by sitting, it will happen. No- you have to do something. If you have a determination, you have to act.
It's the same thing: you had the determination of coming here today. What have you done? You went in your car and you drove. Some drove 500 km, some drove 200 km. You had a determination of coming and you came here. Likewise you have a determination for God-realisation or to become enlightened, to get enlightenment, to become self-realised. It’s now that you have to work. Don't wait that 2012 God will just say “Okay I love them so much, that I will give them all self-realisation just like that.”
Know one thing: Whatever God gives, He gives according to it’s time and according whether you can handle things or not. He will not give you something, that you will make a big mess out of it. He will not give you realisation, until you can handle realisation, because it's not just about saying “I am self-realised” or putting an etiquette on yourself, saying “Yes, I am self-realised”. It’s not like that. There is also a big responsibility and you have to go through certain purification to attain that. So when we say the world will end 2012, of course it will end, because all the negative qualities, which are present inside of that person, will also end. This will be the end of it. But whether it will be 2012 or later – that determination depends on each one individually, because spirituality is each individual path.
And Of course the Master can make it happen. When the disciple is really and sincerely ready, a touch of the Master can give realization just like that. But like I said: we have to have the determination to it.

Sri Swami Vishwananda tells us a Story about a Sadhu

There was once a great Sadhu in a great Divine ecstasy. He fell down in the middle of the road. He was in Samadhi. A few hours later, a thief was passing by. As the thief was passing by, he saw the Sadhu on the road and he said to himself “This must be a thief, that last night had been stealing. Now he is tired, he is just resting. The policemen will come and get him. “ Then he went away. Next came a drunkard. He saw the Sadhu lying down and said “Oh you fell down. You drunk too much. Look at me, I am still standing.” He went his way. Third came another Sadhu. When this Sadhu saw the other Sadhu in great Samadhi, he knew that he was in Samadhi. He sat down near him and started pressing his legs. This shows how our mind functions. We will always see what we have inside of ourselves. Christ has said “Don’t judge your brothers. Don’t try to remove the speck of your brothers, the splinter in the eyes of your brother, when you have a big pole in your eyes.”

Sri Swami Vishwananda talks about........

The real Beloved is God, because He is the only one who is always fresh. His love always renews itself. Whereas all the other loves, they start very fresh, like a beautiful flower, and they, also, fade, the same as the other flowers. You know that.

Saturday, May 7, 2011

Words of Sri Swami Vishwananda

"The more you advance in spirituality the more you will advance in discovering this love and the more your path will become clear. So this is the main foundation of spirituality, love, just love and nothing else."

Sri Swami Vishwananda talks about........

The power of chanting the name of God, it's not only purifying the mind, it’s purifying the body and it's purifying the soul. When your mind is purified, you have a healthy mind. Your mind is positive. Eventually, your body will also be in a positive way. Your body will be healthy. How many times people who are ill surrender completely and say, “I’m fed up now. God, I’m praying to you and I surrender to you. Do whatever you want to do with me.” What happens then? The miracle happens. The miracle of faith. The miracle of love. The miracle of surrender.

Sri Swami Vishwananda tells us today

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, keep your mind fixed on God and chant the divine names. This will help you to open up your heart. Chanting the divine name is the most efficient way of controlling the mind. Look at any religion: Christianity does the “heart prayer”, Hinduism has the japa mala, and Muslims have the rosary. So the name of God is very important, and it’s very easy and very simple. Why to complicate it? Why try to complicate things when God has given us the easiest thing? By chanting His name, you feel so close to Him.

Words of Sri Swami Vishwananda

Know one thing: Whatever God gives, He gives according to it’s time and according whether you can handle things or not.

A guided meditation:

Sri Swami Vishwananda: I would like to do a little meditation with you-a very simple one.

Take a few deep breaths and when you breath out, drop your shoulders; release all the pressure from your shoulders. Close your eyes. Focus your concentration on your third eye. And then, with the power of creation that God has given you, create the OM sign or any Divine symbol or aspect - the cross or any symbol you feel close with. And concentrate all your attention on this point, on this aspect. The mind will think; let it think. Don’t try to stop it; don’t use force to stop it. But don’t hang onto this thought. In the same way it comes let it go. Focus on this Divine aspect, and, with your ears, listen to your breathing. Listen to it carefully. You will hear, when you inhale - if you listen properly - you will be inhaling OM in and the same when you exhale, the sound will be OM. After some time, you will feel a pressure point where you are concentrating. Let it expand. Let this energy expand, covering your whole head. Let it expand to your upper part of your body - your arms, your chest, and your back. Let it expand to the upper part of your body - your legs, your feet. If you have any pain or illness, focus on that point. Let it vibrate. Now, focus on the heart. Let the OM vibrate in your heart. Let it vibrate more and more At the same time, choose the image that you created, that you like, and make it go inside your heart. So come back to yourself.

You see this form of visualisation is very simple for practicing anywhere you are. In place of thinking or talking of things, which are of no use, learn to sit quietly, keep the mind busy, but keep the mind focusing on positivity.

Words of Sri Swami Vishwananda

Once there was a sparrow. He caught a fish and then with this fish in his mouth, he said “Okay I will go home, I will eat it very nicely.” As he was on the branch, a group of crows started to chase him, so as he flew one place behind him, all of them would be behind him. He flew left and right, but the group of crows would not let go of him. Finally he just opened the mouth and the fish fell down. So all the crows run towards that fish. Then he said “Uff, just because of that fish they were after me.” If we let go of our mind, all the other things will let go of us also, they will fly away.
Sadhana helps you to let go of the fish of the mind.
So after you finished your sadhana, don’t just start running around or get back into what you have to do in the world. It’s true and it is important, that you have to do things everyday, but after you finish your prayer, try to assimilate the energy that you got inside of you and try to always center it to this source here.

Sri Swami Vishwananda is talking about Radha's Love to Krishna... True Love that is unconditional...

Radha- among all of the Gopis She was the preference of Krishna and also She loved Krishna the most, more than any of the other gopis.
For Her Krishna was everything, there was no left or right, there was nobody else except Krishna.
Why Radhika had so much Love for Krishna?
Actually Radhika, Radha is Krishna Himself, is part of Himself, who has incarnated before the main aspect of Narayana came on earth.
She is the Bhakti part, the part of devotion.
So Her Love was so intense for Krishna, that the other Gopis in Brindavan would tease Her.
They would tease Her by calling Her Krishna, but She wouldn’t mind.
She was older than Krishna, but yet Her Love for Krishna was not a Mother’s Love, was not a friend’s Love, but it was a Lover’s love.
A real Lover, who not only says “I Love you, I Love you”, and then it doesn’t mean anything, like nowadays so many people say “I Love you, I Love you”, and then they don’t really mean it, they don’t even have Love in it.
These are just words.
But Her love- She doesn’t even need to say "I Love You" to Krishna, because Krishna would run towards Her.
